Courtney’s Axe Throwing Adventure

Since joining the team back in May 2022, I have had the pleasure of participating in an activity provided by Leabold. Judging by the photo, can you guess what it was? That’s right, I went Axe throwing!

I am always up for doing new things, so when I was offered to go out and do something, I had to think hard about what it was I wanted to do. Ideas were thrown at me left right and centre. Do I go Go Karting? Was I cool enough to go paintballing? Should I go white water rafting? In hindsight, that one would have been a good idea in the midst of a heatwave.

But then someone suggested to me… “Who don’t you go Axe throwing?”

What? Throwing sharp objects at a target for an hour and a half? Are you kidding?

I said yes.

So, there I was, heading to Swansea for a warm afternoon of axe throwing.

How did you get on? I hear you ask?

Well, believe it or not, there are many throwing techniques, as I found out. And boy, was I terrible. I couldn’t hit a single target. But, guess what? It’s not all about power, you know!

After some advice from the experts, I started to hit the corkboard. I was a little off, but it was a victory, nevertheless. One small step for man, as they say…

Then BANG. After an incredible underarm throw, I hit the bullseye. And guess what? It didn’t stop there. I managed to get at least one bullseye for every type of throw. It was safe to say that my ego went through the roof. I felt like a pro. Like no-one could stop me.

That was, until I got absolutely slaughtered, no pun intended, by my partner Ben, who came with me. My bullseyes were no match for his double bullseyes and so, I was humbled.

Although my right arm feels as though it has done a long session of heavy lifting, it was totally worth it.

Overall, the experience was super fun. I advise anyone to go out and try something new, even if it’s not something you think you might not enjoy that much. That’s what life is all about! Thank you Leabold for this new and exciting opportunity (oh, and for the half-day that came with it. Ha!).

Bullseye!
